How dangerous is acrobatic gymnastics? My daughter was asked to be on the team as a top?

I'm scared for her. She's small and light, I think that's why she was asked to be a top. I was never into risk taking sports so I don't want to overreact. But she loves it. She's part of a women's group with a preteen and a teenager as the other two of the trio. Her coaches are former russian olympians so I can only imagine they are pretty knowledgeable. She's almost 8 years old. I'd appreciate advice.
