Could a Fallout shelter 15 feet underground with about 3 ft thick walls help protect from Yellowstone?

I have taken close and careful consideration to the 2012 theories. I have been keeping up with the local news and i have noticed a domino effect. (japan) The recent news was a possible 7.2 magnitude earthquake may hit Las Angles and that means Yellowstone could erupt easy. I live in New Jersey and I was wondering if a fallout shelter with 3ft thick reinforced steel and concrete walls could protect me from the blast. At least for 8 months to a year. I'm a very serious person when it comes to this kind of stuff. I have the supplies and the people to help build the shelter, and it that doesn't work, my municipal building down the street from me has one thats roughly 1-3 feet underground, and 1''6(one and a half feet) thick reinforced walls. Any help?
