Do you think the economic collapse lately was an attempt to weaken the U.S. in the world?

I feel that there is a concerted effort of big business to pull the United States more in line and under the control of the United States of Europe. With all the talk of a global economy, I suspect that the nations of the world in moving toward a "One World" government. I seem to see more big, global companies gobbling up smaller ones. More smaller domestic industries are being overtaken by the Multi-national ones.
